Pendulum
The pendulum is the device which carries a marble over gaps in the track. Once the marble is carried over, the pendulum will remain in position waiting for another marble. The visual effect is that of a magnet lifting a steel object. The practical effect is a change in the track, leaving a gaping precipice for the next marble to come from the same direction as its predecessor.
